Your New Patient Dental Visit

Your first visit to Bayshore Dental establishes a foundation for our ongoing relationship. During this visit, we will review your medical and dental history. You will meet your dentist and our team members and have the opportunity to ask any questions about your dental health and treatment plan. For this reason, we ensure that your first appointment allows plenty of time so you don’t feel rushed. Please read the following information and complete the online forms before your visit.

Step 1: Your Appointment

Upon your arrival, our welcoming team will be happy to greet you and guide you through the check-in process. We will notify your oral health team of your arrival and confirm your insurance details if applicable. To save time, we recommend completing the new patient forms included in your appointment confirmation email before arriving.

After checking in, a team member will accompany you to a treatment room where we will review your dental and medical history, and address any dental concerns or issues you may have. Our highly skilled Dental Assistant will take X-rays of your teeth, which will allow us to examine your jaw structure, teeth positioning, and overall tooth condition.

Step 2: Your Exam

As a new patient, we will conduct a comprehensive examination that will take about an hour. This visit is crucial as it allows us to get to know each other better and understand your dental goals. After the examination and X-ray review, we will discuss the findings and results with you.

At our practice, we value technology, and we have an intraoral camera that can provide you with a 3-D video tour of your tooth areas if necessary. Our experienced Dentist will discuss recommendations and procedures with you and create a personalized approach tailored to your dental health needs. We are committed to ensuring that you leave our practice with a clear understanding of your dental health and a plan for achieving optimal oral health.

Step 3: Your Hygiene Visit

During your first visit, it is possible that you may not receive a cleaning on this visit as our dentist needs to assess if it is the appropriate treatment for your specific dental needs.

Our highly skilled Dental Hygienist will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth, gums, and perform an oral cancer screening. If deemed appropriate, your Hygienist will then perform a comprehensive cleaning and polishing of your teeth, either manually with traditional tools or an advanced water-powered instrument.

After the cleaning, your Hygienist will share tips for maintaining good oral health and preventing gum disease. The entire hygiene exam should take about 45 minutes, and you will leave with a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste to help maintain your home health routine.

Learn More About New Patients at Bayshore Dental

Yes! Bayshore Dental accepts new patients and is often able to schedule appointments within a few weeks or even days. Your first visit will usually include an appointment with the dentist for a comprehensive exam and all necessary X-rays. During your new patient appointment, you can speak with our dentists about any specific trouble areas or concerns.

In the past, you may have been able to schedule your first appointment with a new dentist for just a dental cleaning. However, our dentists follow current standards in the dental field and all new patients receive a comprehensive oral examination and any necessary x-rays. This ensures that our dentists have a full and clear picture of your mouth and oral health before proceeding with care. If cleaning is the proper next course of treatment, appointments are often available on the same day.

Our office is committed to helping you maximize your insurance benefits. Because insurance policies vary, we can only estimate coverage in good faith but cannot guarantee coverage due to the complexities of insurance contracts. Estimated patient portions are paid at the time of service. We proudly offer in-network insurance with Delta Dental.

As a service to our patients, we will bill insurance companies for services and allow them 45 days to render payment. After 60 days, patients are responsible for the entire balance, paid-in-full.
