Infant Oral Care

Has your child had their first tooth yet? If so, make their first visit to Bayshore Dental! Our team gently treats your little one’s mouth and developing teeth, so they can grow with a healthy, beautiful smile!

First Visit

Your child’s first dental visit should be the same time they get their first tooth or by their first birthday. Our friendly environment and gentle approach, allows your child to feel comfortable throughout each appointment. You, the parent, are always welcome to be in the same room so you can learn more about maintaining your child’s smile.

Teething

Teething normally occurs between 6 and 12 months after your child is born. During this time, your child’s gums will be irritable, and they will begin chewing on their favorite things! This is completely normal, and we recommend rubbing their gums with a clean spoon or wet cloth to soothe the gums.

Baby & Primary Teeth

As a child grows, their infant teeth will emerge allowing them to chew and process foods easier. When a child reaches 6 years old, their permanent teeth begin to emerge including the molars and lower central incisors.

Baby Bottle Tooth Decay

If liquid is too sugary in a baby bottle, this can cause baby bottle tooth decay—cavities or “sugar bugs” on your child’s teeth. Be sure to monitor the intake of sugar in the liquid and consult with us to learn more.
